Assignment #7: The Lyre bird

The Lyre bird is quite a gifted animal. I think it is amazing how the bird can imitate so many different sounds with such accuracy. When the bird began to make the noises of humans it caught me off guard though. Yes, at first, I thought maybe the people who made the video had just edited the sounds into it. It is crazy that the bird has heard those sounds so many times that it can imitate them perfectly. This shows how often humans are in contact with this creature, while taking pictures and cutting down trees. It is sad to realize that this bird is interfered with by humans so often. As a society, we only think about up-sizing and never the effects it has on the environment and wildlife surrounding us. If all Americans cared about the environment and actually believed that it should be preserved, things would be a lot different everywhere. Realistically, our nation would probably have not existed if we decided to never mess with wildlife. I guess the issue really comes down to this: Do you care more about the development and luxury of your life or the comfort and stability of nature?
